This photograph was taken at an abandoned cotton mill on a road trip through rural Texas. It represents infrastructure left behind after the harvest economy that sustained it disappeared. The overgrown grass reclaiming the machinery captures that moment after the work no longer continues, when what remains is decay rather than renewal. In my work, I’m drawn to these post-apocalyptic scenes where the tools of commerce outlast their purpose, leaving behind a landscape shaped by abundance that no longer exists.
